About Me
-
Describe Yourself:Rudy Giuliani is running for President of the United States for one reason: results. From reviving the nation's most populous city as Mayor of New York, to bringing down the Mafia as a Federal Prosecutor, when all others had failed or given up, Rudy succeeded.
Though it may be hard to imagine now, in 1990 New York was known as the "Rotting Big Apple" by TIME Magazine. Countless experts agreed that the city was headed toward permanent decline. The streets were unsafe and filthy, and the bloated city bureaucracy was incompetent at providing even the most basic services to its citizens. Thousands of people left vowing never to return, and those who did not join the exodus were resigned to this abysmal status quo.
Fast forward to January 1, 2000. The cover of TIME had another picture, this one of the beautiful millennium celebration in Times Square. TIME called New York City's turnaround the greatest example of "Urban Renaissance." Having been in office for seven years, New York had the lowest crime rate of any major city in the country. Rudy had cut or eliminated 23 taxes. The number of people on welfare was down by 640,000. Unemployment, which once embarrassingly over ten percent, was now at five and a half. A multi-billion dollar deficit was now a surplus – all without raising taxes.
Rudy truly believes the reason America is the greatest country on earth is because of the ingenuity and spirit of its people. We do not cower from challenges; we triumph over them. As President, Rudy wants to give individuals more freedom; freedom to own their own health care, freedom to keep more of the money they earn and freedom from the threat of Islamic terrorists. Join Rudy in his campaign to stay on offense in the Terrorists' War on Us, improve the quality of life for our children, end illegal immigration, and give people more control over affordable health care.
